Cycling expedition to commemorate 'The battle of Namka Chu'

A five-day cycling expedition was flagged off by Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh here today to commemorate 55 years of 'The Battle of Namka Chu' with China in 1962.

Traversing through Agra, Firozabad, Shikohabad, Mainpuri, Fatehgarh, the expedition would terminate at Shahjahanpur after covering a distance of 336 kms.

"Covering half-a-dozen districts, the 20-member team, including three officers and two JCOs, would complete its expedition on October 20," Lt. Gen. Singh said.

The team, during the course of their expedition, would interact with school/college students to spread awareness about the battle and narrate the valiant effort by the Indian Army in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation.
 

"The team would also interact with the veterans and ex- serviceman, to address their grievances." he added.

The 'Battle of Namka Chu' began on October 10, 1962, and continued til November 16.
