Cyclist crushed to death by speeding train in Punjab

An unidentified cyclist was crushed to death by a speeding train while crossing a railway track here today, a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said.

The incident took place this morning when the man, appearing to be in his thirties, was mowed down by the Jammu TawiIndore Malwa Superfast Express, GRP official Harmesh Lal said.

He said the cyclist was crossing the railway track unmindful of the approaching train.

In another incident, a 45-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping before Indore-Jammu Tawi Malwa Superfast Express yesterday, said Lal.

The deceased was identified as Amarjit Singh, a resident of Kotrani road, he said, adding the reason behind the suicide could not be known.
 

The body was handed over to the family after postmortem, he said.
