Andhra Pradesh government has lined up a string of events on November 17 to cheer up and boost the morale of residents of Visakhapatnam, devastated by the last month's tropical cyclone Hudhud.

Day-long programmes organised for the citizens at R K beach in Visakhapatnam include marathon, cyclothon, sapling plantation, yoga performance, sand art, crafts mela, art camp, traditional ramp walk and musical performances, including one by well-known singer Baba Sehgal.

Noting that the cyclone had left a trail of destruction in Visakhapatnam and parts of AP's north coastal districts, Special Chief Secretary (Tourism) Chandana Khan said the process of re-building the port city is on a fast pace.

"What we require is to uplift the morale and re-build the confidence among the people and bring back the glory of the 'City of Destiny'," she said.

"The event is to create positive approach towards recovery, motivation and reassuring the population at large as well as keeping the spirit of every citizen of Visakhapatnam high and assuring them of a safe and bright future...," she said.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would actively participate in the event where a 'Rejuvenation Vizag' flame would be lit, Chandana said.
