A cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal coast persisted as the MeT department today forecast heavy rain in Gangetic West Bengal for the next two days.

Many areas in Gangetic West Bengal received intermittent rainfall, including one or two spells of heavy rain, since last evening.

The MeT department has forecast generally cloudy sky with heavy rain in Gangetic West Bengal in the next two days.

Heavy showers in Kolkata led to accumulation of knee-deep water in several places in the southern and western parts of the city accompanied by traffic snarls and harassment of public.

Kolkata recorded 57.8 mm rainfall since last morning as the day temperature was recorded at 30.1 degrees Celsius.

The weatherman has predicted generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain in the sub-Himalayan districts of the state.
