On the eve of Diwali, the Haryana government today announced an one per cent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of all its employees.

The additional instalment of the allowance will be paid in cash to employees with October's salary.

Finance Minister Abhimanyu said that this would put an additional financial burden of Rs 86.25 crore on the state exchequer.

The government has also decided that the rate of DA for employees who draw their pay in the pre-revised pay-band as per the Sixth Pay Commission, has been enhanced from the existing rate of 136 per cent to 139 per cent, the minister said.

This would put an additional financial burden of Rs 579.54 lakh, he said.

The increases would come into effect from July 1.
