Dacoits gang busted in Punjab

With the arrest of three persons following a raid at a deserted location in the district, police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of dacoits that had been operating for the past two years now.

Following a raid at a deserted place near Indgarh village on the Dharamkot-Kishanpura road, police arrested the three alleged dacoits. However, the remaining six members of the gang managed to escape in the cover of darkness, police added.

The gang was active since last two years, police said, adding that the arrested were identified as Rakesh Kumar, Traarsem Lal and Baldev Raj, all residents of Dharamkot in Moga district.
 

Police conducted a raid in the wee hours on a tip off when the dacoits were allegedly planning a major robbery.

The arrested gang members confessed during interrogation that they have committed number of robberies in Moga and in the adjoining districts of Ferozepur and Faridkot.

Police has registered a case in this connection and launched a hunt of the absconders.
