Dacoits loot bank after killing guard

A gang of dacoits shot dead the guard of North Bihar Regional Rural Bank in Madhubani district of Bihar and looted Rs 4.56 lakh from it during the wee hours today.

Madhubani Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Rahman said the incident happened at the bank's branch at Uchait village and the murdered guard has been identified as one Jeevach Rai (45).

"The dacoits shot him dead and threw his body in a nearby agricultural field. They then cut open the safe kept inside the bank and decamped with Rs 4.56 lakh," Rahman said.

The SP added that the robbery came to light today morning after bank employees reported for duty. An FIR has been lodged and the police has started investigations. The dog squad has also been pressed into service.
