A 27-year-old dairy owner was today found murdered in a drain near his house in Sahibabad area of the district, police said.

They said the role of the victim's friends, who are on the run after the murder, was suspected in the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Harrendra Kasana who lived with his family in Tulsi Niketen Colony of Sahibabad area here.

"Some of Harrendra's friends reached his house last night and asked him to come out. On this, he, along with his friends, went out. This morning, his body was found in a drain which is just few metres away from his house," said a senior police officer.

Police said several stab wounds have been found on Harrendra's body which suggests that he may have been stabbed to death by the accused.

Police have detained a woman and his son in connection with the murder.

"Police have formed a team to investigate the case and are conducting several raids to arrest Harrendra's friends who had reached his house last evening," the officer added.

After Harrendra's body was found in drain, several angry locals staged a protest against police. They, however, called off their protest after senior police officials assured them that the accused would be arrested soon.
