Daler Mehndi supports MCD's green drive

Famous pop singer Daler Mehndi today joined in an ongoing three-day green drive run by civic bodies here, under which 10,000 plants are being planted in different areas in the city.

The campaign which started yesterday by North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) aims to build awareness among people on protection of environment.

Mehndi, North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta and East Delhi Mayor Harsh Malhotra today planted saplings at Ajmal Khan Park in north Delhi's Karol Bagh area.

The Bollywood singer of 'Tunuk Tunuk Tun' song fame, who runs a green foundation said, "Greening of thickly-populated areas like Karol Bagh is very important for improving environment of the city. Our foundation, already working in the direction has planted more than 8 lakh saplings."
 

He expressed his happiness to be part of the corporations' plantation drive on Diwali to sensitise the citizens on the issue.

"During the drive 10,000 trees and shrubs are being planted at different locations in the capital city. Red FM radio station is also partnering with us in our drive," Director (Press and Information), NDMC Yogendra Singh Mann said.

"They have also changed their name temporarily to Green FM to support the cause," he added.
