Dalit boy issue: AAP team makes representation to SC/ST panel

A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party leaders today made a representation to National SC/ST Commission and demanded arrest of police personnel allegedly involved in the mysterious death of a Dalit teenager in Haryana's Sonepat district.

The party also demanded a high court-monitored SIT inquiry into various aspects of the death.

Family members and the villagers have alleged that 15-year-old Govind died in police custody, while Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has claimed that the boy had committed suicide which drew criticism from opposition parties.

A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the death of the youth in Gohana town, while two ASIs have been booked in this connection.
 

Post-mortem has shown that Govind had died of hanging, a day after the teenager, who was taken to police station after being accused of pigeon theft, was found dead near his house under suspicious circumstances.

AAP had also constituted a fact-finding team of Sandeep Kumar, Minister for SC/ST, Social Welfare MLAs including Rajendra Gautam, Rakhi Birlan, Vishsesh Ravi, Manoj Kumar, Prakash jarwal and Raju Dhingan.

Two assistant sub-inspectors have been booked in connection with the boy's death.
