UP cadre IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and social activist Nutan Thakur have written a letter to IG (Meerut zone) expressing serious concern over police inaction in the case of thrashing of a Dalit contractor here.

The Dalit contractor Dharmendra Singh, had on April 11 alleged that Omveer Singh, father of Sardhana BJP MLA Sangeet Som thrashed him along with four others over a dispute.

Elaborating on the contents of the letter written to IG Alok Sharma, Nutan Thakur said, "The police has not arrested Omveer Singh even four days after he brutally thrashed the contractor."

"I have spoken to the police officer on duty and inspector of Sardhana and they have confessed that the charges levelled against Singh are correct," she said.

Dharmendra, a resident of Raghna village in the district, had complained that the accused forcibly took him away from his home on Wednesday night and subjected him to beating for about four hours at the farmhouse of Omveer Singh, police had said.

The complainant said that he was attacked over a dispute involving labour.
