Press Trust of India Jaipur
Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot today criticised Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria for allegedly claiming that the Dalit girl, who was allegedly raped and found dead under mysterious circumstances in Bikaner, had committed suicide.

Pilot claimed that the statement proves that they consider the girl's death to be a case of suicide even before the probe has been completed.

"How can the Home Minister say that the girl committed suicide even before the investigation is completed," he said.

Pilot claimed that the Home Minister "is raising questions on the girl's character" to "hide" the facts of the case.

The victim's family are feeling "helpless" after the statement of the Home Minister, Pilot said.

The 17-year-old girl was allegedly found in the room of physical trainer and instructor Vijendra Singh on the night of March 29 by the hostel warden and next morning she was found dead in the water tank.

After her parents lodged an FIR, Singh was arrested on March 31 for allegedly raping the girl. Later, the hostel warden and the principal were also arrested under POCSO act for failing to inform the police when they found the girl in the instructor's room.
