Dalit girl rape, murder case: father demands CBI probe

The father of a 17-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Bikaner district today demanded a CBI probe in the case.

He accused the police of not investigating the case properly and demanded the CBI probe with inclusion of a murder charge in the FIR lodged with the police station in Bikaner.

"The local police is not investigating the case properly. They have not included the section for murder," he said here.

The minor girl's body was found on March 30 from a water bank in the premises of her college. On the intervening night of March 28-29, she was found in the room of the college's physical trainer Vijendra Singh by the hostel warden.
 

Singh was arrested and booked under IPC section 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of SC, ST and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. The hostel warden was also arrested for not informing the police after seeing the girl in Singh's room.
