Dalit man assaulted in UP village

A 26-year-old Dalit man was allegedly assaulted and threatened by the husband of a village head over a dispute in the district, police said today.

According to a complaint lodged by the victim, Man Singh allegedly came to his house at Bhup Kheri village yesterday, and beat him up with a lathi and used objectionable remarks.

A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Dalit Atrocities Act. The injured was admitted to a hospital, police added.
