Dalit man beaten to death in UP

A 55-year-old Dalit was beaten to death in Jagannathpur village here by around six assailants over a trivial issue, police said today.

The incident took place last night under Lalganj Kotwali police station area when about six lathi-wielding muscle-men of the village attacked Pyarelal Saroj over a tiff between their children, they said.

Victim's son rushed to save him and was also injured in the incident, police station in-charge Sabhajeet Misra said.

Both were rushed to district hospital where the doctors declared Pyarelal dead, Misra said adding that on the complaint of the bereaved family a named FIR has been registered against four persons of which three are in police custody.
