Various Dalit organisations strongly condemned the district collector here today for allegedly denying them a visit and demanded his transfer.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here today afternoon, leaders of Dalit organisations said that they had gone to the collectorate this afternoon to submit a memorandum to the district collector about various atrocities against Dalits.

However, after making the leaders wait for a long time, only five representatives were allowed to meet him in his chamber.

The leaders requested that since the delegation consists of different Dalit organisations, representatives of these organisations should be allowed to meet him.

After the collector refused to do so, the agitated leaders came back and gave a copy of the memorandum to the despatch section of the collector's office instead of submitting it to the district collector.

Later, the leaders addressed a press conference and strongly condemned the collector for denying them a visit, demanding his immediate transfer.

The press conference was attended by Buddhist Society of India district president C P Shende, Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh vice president Prakash Dudhe, Madgi Samaj Sangharsh Samiti president Samayya Pasula, Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad women's wing president Kusum Alam and others.
