A ship of a Bangladeshi company remained anchored for the fifth consecutive day today at the char area near the Benipheli forest along the Bay of Bay of Bengal after it developed a crack.

The ship, carrying fly ash from Budge Budge area in the South 24 Parganas district to the neighbouring country, developed a crack on its floor allowing water to gush in on the deck on its return journey on June 3, a senior police officer said.

Soon the crew took the vessel to the forest area and berthed it near the Sunderbans in South 24 Parganas district, the officer said quoting its pilot Saiful Islam.
