Blur frontman Damon Albarn has criticised today's artists for not using their music to discuss wider issues.

The 47-year-old singer said that today's "selfie generation" are only interested in talking about how they feel, reported Digital Spy.

"Young artists talk about themselves, not what's happening out there. It's the selfie generation. They're talking platitudes," he said.

"What are any of them saying? I don't hear anything other than, 'This is how I feel'. Which is an important part of song-writing, but we're talking in the context of the election - and they don't have anything to do with it."

Blur recently unveiled the music video for their new song 'Lonesome Street', which is taken from their forthcoming album The Magic Whip.
