"Although I studied Dante's 'Inferno' as a student, it wasn't until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante's work on the modern world," said Brown about his work, which will be published internationally in hardcover, ebook and on CD audio.

"With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm... A landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways," he said.

Making the announcement, Bill Scott-Kerr, Brown's long-term publisher at Transworld, said, "In 'Inferno', he returns to the heart of old Europe and to the territory so compellingly occupied by 'The Da Vinci Code'. It's another star turn from start to finish."

Said Nandan Jha, vice president (sales) of Random House India, "It is a proud privilege to be involved in the publishing process of Dan Brown's new Robert Langdon thriller, which promises to be another masterpiece by him. Each of Dan Brown's books have been huge successes for us and continue to be bestsellers across the country."
