Writer Dan Harmon has teased fans with the future of the popular sitcom "Community", hinting that a movie could still happen.

Harmon, who also produces the comedy series, said another season of "Community" on Yahoo! is less likely to happen than if you bring the cast together for "an awesome movie" which will be an "easier thing to do", reported Digital Spy.

"We wait a little bit, let (the cast) explore their awesome careers, and then we get together for an incredible movie," Harmon said.

If a big-screen outing does happen, Harmon said he would love "Fast & Furious" fame Justin Lin to direct the project.

Lin previously directed episodes of "Community" when it aired on NBC.

A "Community" film has often been rumoured, and the phrase "six seasons and a movie" is a long-running in-joke among fans dating back to season two episode 'Paradigms of Human Memory'.
