The Swami Haridas Sangeet Evam Nritya Mahotsava, to be inaugurated by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, is the oldest festival of music and dance, organized every year in Vrindavan to recognize the immense contribution of Swami Haridas in field of music.
"The festival provides a platform to renowned artists not only to perform in the presence of a large gathering and prominent people from the field of art and culture but also helps them attain spiritual satisfaction," Gopi Goswami, secretary of the Samiti, told reporters here this afternoon.
"The festival is a devotional grandeur and has turned into an annual pilgrimage for the connoisseurs of Indian art and culture," Goswami stated.
Vocalist Pt Chhannu Lal Mishra would perform at the festival. Nritya Katha, a unique dance Katha on Lord Krishna would also be presented by Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh, in Vocals and Oddissi.
Young artist Hemant Brijwasi, Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champs winner 2009, would present musical performance in Braj Bhasha.
Sufi Qawwalis by Nizami brothers, descendants of Hazarat Nizamuddin Aulia of Nizamuddin Dargah, flute recital by Rakesh Chaurasia, the foremost desciple of Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia would also be presented.
"Adding charm to festival would be the inevitable Drupad recital by none other than Gundecha brothers," Goswami said.
