A dance show by women performers was organised in Patti sub-jail located near the Indo-Pak border in Tarn Taran district on the occasion of Baisakhi festival in violation of jail norms, a senior official said today.
Confirming the incident on April 14, Superintendent of Amritsar Central Jail R K Sharma said that he has enquired into the matter and submitted a report to the Director General Prison R P Meena.
Describing the dance performance by women in the jail as "illegal as well as against jail norms", Sharma said Deputy Superintendent of Patti Jail Davinder Singh Randhawa never sought permission from higher authority for such an event.

It was organised in "gross abuse of official power" to please some rich prisoners lodged in the jail, Sharma said.
Sharma said that during the enquiry, ample of photographs were produced before him wherein hardcore criminals lodged in the jail were seen sharing dais with Randhawa.
The enquiry report also revealed that a hefty amount was paid to the performers for provocative dance.
Some of the detainees allegedly having close links with a political bigwig had managed to convince Randhawa to organise the event, the enquiry report claimed.
