Danish tourist gangrape: Police to file charge sheet soon

The Delhi Police today informed a court here that a charge sheet would be filed within 20 days against those arrested in connection with gangrape of a 51-year-old Danish tourist.

Meanwhile, the court extended till January 23 police custody of accused Mahender alias Ganja, Mohammed Raza, Raju Singh, Arjun and Raju after they were produced before it on expiry of three days' remand.

"The accused are sent to police custody till January 23. They be produced on Thursday," it said.

Delhi Police, probing the case, said that "it is a sensitive matter and the investigations will be completed expeditiously".

Further apprising the court about the progress of the probe, it said that the doctors in Denmark have confirmed that the woman was raped and it is exploring every possibility to call her to India for joining the investigation.
 

"Police is planning to send a letter to the alleged victim through Denmark Embassy for joining the investigation. In case she does not come, Delhi Police team can also be send to meet her.

"As the case is sensitive in nature, we are trying to file the charge sheet in this case within 20 days," Delhi Police told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Sudhanshu Kaushik.

The police told the court that seven persons, including two juveniles, have been nabbed and one is still at large.

The two juveniles are facing inquiry before the Juvenile Justice Board here.
