The 55-year-old has been lauded for his work on the opening ceremony in London, but he said the celebrations are bittersweet - and he wishes his father Frank Boyle, who passed away last year, had lived long enough to see the Olympics, reported Contactmusic.
"He didn't quite make it... I took (this job) because my dad was an Olympics nut. I remember watching grainy pictures from Mexico 1968. He turned me into a mad Olympic fan," Boyle said.
