In the wake of crop damage due to hail storm and unseasonal rains over the past few days in the 20 districts, Principal Secretary C Parthasarathi today asked District Agriculture Officers to immediately take up work of assessment of crop loss and submit report.
As per the preliminary report submitted by the DAOs,crop damage was noticed in 20 districts, of which severe damage was reported insix districts,an official release said.
Addressing a teleconference conducted by Agriculture and Co-operation department, along with Commissioner and Director of Agriculture and Commissioner of Horticulture on crop damage issue across the state, Parthasarathi requested officials to be alert, form enumeration teams and immediately take up work of assessment of the crop loss and submit a report, it said.
He further said the officials must report the nature of damage specifically, whether it is lodging, grain shredding, shedding or shattering.
The District Horticulture Officers were also asked to be a part of the assessment teams and report the damage caused to horticulture crops.
Due to recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms heavy damagewas noticed in mango, banana and acid lime in four districts, the release added.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao yesterday instructed officials to make estimates of the crops losses due to the rain and hail storms.
