Describing it as a cause of concern as no city from Jharkhand finding place in the list of survey for cleanliness, Chief Minister Raghubar Das today called upon to step up efforts.
"We have to make efforts jointly so our cities too will be in the list of clean cities, which will be of pride and prestige," Das said while addressing at a workshop organised by the Urban and Housing departments.
Any campaign would not be successful without the participation of people, he said calling upon everyone to understand one's responsibility.
First change yourself and then expect others to change, he said.
Asking the urban unit to work on a goal, Das said nothing was impossible to attain with good intension and policy, an official release said quoting him.
He suggested the urban units for recycling of waste generated from cities and to prepare a road map to get electricity from it and work on alternatives usage through technology.
The Chief Minister asked to set December as the target to reach open defecation-free in city areas and stressed on the necessity to work in a mission mode.
He asked to connect common people in this campaign and directed the urban units to prepare a list of households not having toilets in wards.
Public toilets should also be constructed, he said.
Urban Development and Housing minister C P Singh and Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra were among others present on occasion.

Praising people for supporting demonetisation and
urging them to fight against blackmoney, corruption and bad governance, Das asked the people aware of digital transactions to teach five other persons about it.
In his speech, Urban Development Minister C P Singh said khadi is an indicator of "swadeshi, swa-rozgar and swabilamban" (inland, self-employment and self-sustenance).
Gandhi's dreams would be fulfilled when every Indian wears Khadi, he said.
Noted social worker Ashok Bhagat said that khadi would play a big role in providing employment to people in villages.
Jharkhand Khadi Board Chairman Sanjay Seth said the fair has eleven hangers, more than 550 stalls, free wi-fi zone and to encourage cashless transaction and PoS machines were also installed in the fair.
