With increase in the number of migrant workers in the recent days in Kerala, the state government has decided to prepare a data bank of migrant families, Minister for Social Welfare, M K Muneer said here today.
It was estimated that there were about 30 lakh migrant labourers across the state and government would come out with a comprehensive policy for the welfare of migrant families, Muneer said while attending a meeting, called to discuss the issues related to children of migrant families.
A policy would be formulated after consulting with different departments, he said, adding, it would be implemented through various agencies.
Efforts would be made to make the state a children friendly one, he said.
