Data sharing and accessibility portal launched in Sikkim

The first data sharing and accessibility portal of Sikkim has been launched by Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.

Till now, there was no single platform where all the important statistics of the state and departments converged, a senior government official said.

Besides the State Data Sharing and Accessibility Platform (SDSAP), the State Direct Benefit Transfer portal was also launched at a programme here on Thursday.

These two portals are information management systems for quick and easy recording and dissemination of statistical data by government officials.

The platform is intended to be used by all state government departments and PSUs, the official said.

It would increase transparency in the functioning of thegovernment and open avenues for more innovative uses of official data.

 

The official said the state Information Technology Department would upload data in the portals twice a year - in April-May and September-October.

The data sharing and accessibility platform will provide an opportunity not just to improve access to information but also to specify new data sets and recordstobe collected and published.

This will helpimprove and strengthen coordination among departments, facilitate correct interpretation of data,collation of key statistical indicators under one platform, the official said.
