Dave for continued Indo-US talk over climate change issues

Union Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave has emphasised the need for continued dialouge on various issues concerning climate change with the US like adopting a sustainable lifestyle and implementation of the Paris accord.

"The Minister has emphasised the need for continued dialogue on sustainable lifestyles, phase-down of Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) under Montreal Protocol, Research and Development...

"...Cooperation on Global Market-Based Measures (GMBM) under the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and implementation of Paris Agreement," an official statement said.

It said that a US delegation, headed by Jonathon Pershing, Special Envoy for Climate Change and Ambassador Jennifer Haverkamp, US Special Representative for Environment and Water, held discussions on issues of mutual interest and urgent global matters under negotiation at multilateral fora over the last couple of days.
 

After the discussions, US Ambassador to India, Richard R Verma and Ambassador Jennifer Haverkamp called on the Environment Minister yesterday.

Dave appreciated the outcome of Joint Working Group (JWG) on Climate Change on long-term cooperation in areas including on air quality, climate resilience, climate fellowships, forestry and energy co-operation, the statement said.
