British supermodel David Gandy has revealed that he was approached to play Christian Grey in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' but turned down the role.

The role first went to Charlie Hunnam but Jamie Dornan boarded the project after Hunnam decided to quit it.

Gandy turned down a number of Hollywood film offers over the year in his interview with Square Mile, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"I was offered Fifty Shades of Grey, 300: Rise of an Empire, Hercules, which a lot of people probably would have taken as actors, but I'm in the fortunate position where I like what I'm doing. I don't feel the need to act," he said.

Talking about the much-hyped movie adaptation of E L James' widely read but critically panned erotic novels, Gandy said he felt it was right to say no to the role.

"It just didn't feel right, in any way. And in my gut, it felt right to say no," he said.
