Suchet has confirmed that the next series of Christie's hero detective will be his last.
The 65-year-old actor revealed that the show's grand finale, which will be screened next year, will conclude with Poirot, the Belgian detective, dying at the end, the Daily Mail reported.
"The moustache is going to be hung-up I am afraid, that's it. I'll be not only saying good bye to, but having to bury, one of my very dearest best friends who has changed the course of my life," he said recently.
The actor, who has starred in seventy episodes of the ITV drama, has helped make it a global phenomenon attracting an average of 700 million viewers worldwide.
"I always find him challenging, a difficult glove to fit into. Sometimes it's been four years between Poirots and it's difficult because I don't speak like him or walk like him."
