Celebrating the 75th Milad Mubarak of His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Aqa TUS, the Dawoodi Bohra Community in Gujarat came together for one of the grandest cleanliness drives across the region.

As part of their beautification campaign, 450 potted plants were distributed to members of the community for a mere INR 100 at Tanzeem offices. Furthering their commitment to keeping the city clean, women from the Dawoodi Bohra community met with Gayatri Jariwala, Assistant Commissioner, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), to discuss the challenges faced in maintaining the city and the solutions to achieve the same.

At the meeting, it was proposed that garbage collection be done twice a day, besides requesting separate bins for wet and dry waste. Additionally, it was suggested that the timings for garbage collection be fixed and followed accordingly. Women from the community also expressed their concern over stray animals and their faeces, which soil the city, and asked if the SMC could find a solution to this. They also requested the SMC to fix potholes and gutters, as well as solving parking problems in the area, to facilitate a better city.

Speaking about the cleanliness drive, Samina Kanchwala, Secretary, DBWRF said, "It is wonderful to see women from the community take up the onus of keeping Gujarat clean. This is just the beginning and we are confident of taking the clean-up mission across the country, with more and more women joining in."

With this, the Dawoodi Bohra community has reaffirmed its commitment to the teachings of His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Aqa TUS, who encourages people to maintain hygiene and cleanliness around them.

About DBWRF

In May 2017, a few Dawoodi Bohra women stalwarts initiated a movement to bring together the Dawoodi Bohra Women of India on a common platform to preserve and protect the beliefs, customs, culture and religious rights of Dawoodi Bohra Women. And thus was born DBWRF which today represents tens of thousands of Dawoodi Bohra women in India.
