The prolonged cold wave has started vanishing in the hills of Himachal Pradesh with maximum day temperatures recorded at 40.2 degree Celsius at Una in Shivalik foothills while mercury rose by few notches at other places in mid and lower hills.
Sundernagar recorded maximum temperature at 34.7 degree C while Nahan recorded a high of 34.0 degree, followed by Bhunter 32.5 degree, Solan 31.2 degree, Dharamsala 28.8 degree and Kalpa 19.0 degree Celsius respectively, two to three degree above normal, the Met officials said.
The state capital Shimla recorded a high of 25.5 degree Celsius, 4.5 degree above normal while the minimum temperature remained moderate at 14.4 degree, two degree above normal.
Nahan was the hottest during the night with minimum temperature at 20.5 degree, followed by Palampur 17.5 degree, Dharamsala 16.5 degree, Una 15.5 degree, Sundernagar 13.5 degree, Solan 13.0 degree, Bhuntar 11.2 degree and Manali 7.8 degree Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, the Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft), the gateway to tribal Lahaul and Pangi valleys has been opened after clearing the snow and normal vehicular traffic to the valley has been resumed.
