The Dyal Singh College Teachers' Association (DSCTA) today demanded Governing Body Chairman Amitabh Sinha be removed for allegedly "denigrating" the educational legacy of Sardar Dayal Singh.

The teachers association also reiterated its stand against renaming the college.

"The authorities are not paying any attention. Rather in order to legitimize this illegal bifurcation, the college Governing Body (GB) and its Chairman Amitabh Sinha went ahead and renamed the evening college as Vandemataram College. By this blatant act of renaming they not only denigrated the glorious educational legacy of Sardar Dyal Singh, but also wilfully violated the terms of the transfer deed which insists upon status-quo on the name of the institution," DSCTA President P K Parihar said in a statement.

After the DSCTA raised the issue into the public domain, the HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar gave an assurance that the name of the college will not be changed.

Despite the assurance, Sinha and the Evening College authorities conducted the 2018 annual day of the college under the banner of Vande Mataram Dyal Singh College, he added.

"The DSCTA registers its strong protest against such brazen actions of the College GB Chairman and demands his immediate removal," the statement said.
