DB Bhosale takes over as Chief Justice of Allahabad HC

Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale today took over as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

He was administered the oath by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik in presence of High Court judges, and other dignitaries.

The post had been vacant since May this year when Justice Bhosale's predecessor, Justice D Y Chandrachud, was elevated to the Supreme Court.

Born on October 24, 1956, Justice Bhosale belongs to a family of freedom fighters and his father Babasaheb Bhosale had served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

After obtaining his law degree from Government Law College, Mumbai, Justice Bhosale began legal practice in 1980.
 

During his illustrious career as a lawyer, he served as Chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Vice-Chairman of Bar Council of India.

Justice Bhosale was elevated as a judge of the Bombay High Court in 2001.

Before taking up his current assignment, he served as the Acting Chief Justice at the Hyderabad High Court.
