Senior Congress leader Pradip Kumar Balmuchu today claimed that suspension of Seraikela-Kharswan Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police over last month's lynching was an attempt to cover the state government's 'failure' to control law and order.

It was an attempt to cover the "inefficiency and incapability" of Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das to run the state as he miserably failed to deliver on all fronts, Balmuchu, a Rajya Sabha member, told a press conference.

Had Das been serious about the prevailing law and order situation, he should have taken action against DCs and SPs of districts like Gumla, Latehar and Ranchi, the former state Congress chief said.

Seraikela-Kharswan Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Golap and SP Rakesh Bansal were suspended yesterday, based on the report submitted by a committee formed to probe the lynching by a mob on suspicion of being child lifters in Rajnagar police station area of the district.
