DCW chief met parents of six-year-old girl

Taking a serious view, Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal today met the parents of six-year-old girl, who is suspected to have been sexually assaulted and assured all kinds of medical help and support from their end.

Maliwal along with her team visited AIIMS where the girl is undergoing treatment and assured the family that justice will be done with the girl.

According to sources, DCW may also involve Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR)and may speak to police to ensure justice.

According to the police, the girl was found lying battered behind bushes in Okhla area of South East Delhi yesterday.
 

Parents of the girl, residents of Harkesh Nagar Colony in the area informed police that she had gone to school on August 10 but had failed to return home. The girl was found by a passerby in Sanjay Colony in Ohkla Jungle where she was lying battered behind bushes, police said.

Yesterday police said, it appears she was being raped and then an attempt was made to kill her. She was rushed to AIIMS for medical treatment.

Police registered an FIR under relevant sections at Okhla Industrial police station, the officer said.
