The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) will soon set up a committee to address issues and problems faced by northeastern women in the national capital.

The Commission is also mulling over starting a helpline to aid women in distress, DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal today said.

"We are planning to set up a Committee to address issues and problems faced by northeastern women in Delhi. Also we will start a helpline calling which women from North east can seek immediate help," Maliwal said during a seminar on issues of the northeastern students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Maliwal said she had been pitching for convening a special session of Parliament to discuss issues pertaining to women safety and has met Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in this regard.
