In a bid to stop exploitation of domestic helps, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) today asked private placement agencies in the national capital to get themselves registered and warned them of action in case of non-compliance.
During a meeting with the representatives of Delhi-based placement agencies, DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh cited the provisions of Delhi Private Placement Agencies Regulation Act 2012 including mandatory labour department license, maintaining a proper register and minimum salary of Rs 8,000 among others.
"In case, they do not cooperate and seek license and involve themselves in exploitation of the domestic workers there is a clear cut provision of punishment for one year, two years or even more with fine from Rs 15,000 to 25,000 along with licence cancellation," a DCW statement said.
