Accusing Doordarshan of "ignoring" and showing "disrespect" to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31 by not covering her death anniversary event, a Congress MP has written a letter to I&B Minister Arun Jaitley asking whether any direction was issued to the public broadcaster in this regard.

"Unfortunately, the NDA government, especially the I&B Ministry (Doordarshan) did not show respect to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary," Congress MP Hanumanth Rao wrote to Jaitley yesterday.

"They have not even covered any function to mark Indira Gandhi's Day of Martyrdom. The NDA government showed a narrow mindset towards the office of the PM and its previous occupants and their contributions and sacrifices of predecessors," Rao said.

The Congress MP wanted to know whether any directions have been given to DD by the I&B Minister for not covering death anniversary of Indira Gandhiji.

He has also threatened to take it up in the coming parliament session.

"Our party will definitely take up the issue during the ensuing session of Parliament for apprising the people of this country about the NDA government's narrow mindset," he said in the letter.
