Taking a cue from Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Doordarshan today conducted a punctuality check and is taking action against those who did not reach work on time.

A statement released by Doordarshan said that "following the footsteps of I&B Minister, four Deputy Director General level officers at Doordarshan are being asked to keep a check on the punctuality of officers".

A surprise check was conducted at Doordarshan Bhawan here today from 9:30 am onwards.

There were very few latecomers as it seemed that employees had taken cue from the surprise check done by the I&B Minister few days back, the statement said.

Action is being initiated against those who reported late for work today, it said, adding that more such surprise checks may be done.

The statement also said that Doordarshan has already issued circular among all its employees to be punctual in attending office.

A few days back, Javadekar had made a surprise check of his ministry in Shastri Bhawan and found many staff late for office.
