At least 284 temporary structures were removed by authorities from various parts of the city in the last 10 days as part of an anti-encroachment drive, the DDA today said.

The actions were taken based on the recommendations of a Special Task Force (STF) having as members, among others -- the DDA vice-chairman, secretary to the L-G and commissioners of the three municipal corporations.

A maximum of 157 temporary structures were demolished or removed in south Delhi, 120 in north Delhi and seven in west Delhi between April 27 and May 6, the DDA said in a statement.

In west Delhi, a stretch of road spanning 35 kms in Dwarka and Najafgarh areas was cleared of encroachment. A piece of government land measuring nearly 8,500 sqm was also reclaimed, it said.
