The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) today approved 6.8 hectares of land for expansion of AIIMS Trauma Centre.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the urban body, led by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, who is DDA Chairman, at the Raj Niwas here.
The proposal was put up before the Authority in its last meeting when the LG had observed that the decision may be taken only after assessing the number of trees in the area, the DDA said in a statement.

Following a survey of the area, it was found that more than 80 per cent of the plantation was only of keekar trees.
"The proposal was, therefore, approved by the Lt Governor," it said.
The DDA today also proposed a modification in permissibility of media and news agencies and media training centers in public and semi-public uses.
The same has been approved for modification in the Delhi Master Plan 2021, it said, adding, the proposal was mooted on the request of India Broadcasting Foundation and forwarded by the Ministry of Urban Development.
Modification of Master Plan 2021 for amalgamation of plots up to 200 sqm was also proposed and approved subject to limiting to only one time amalgamation and of two plots only.
