DDA to respond on service charge to MCD by Monday: official

DDA will assess the amount that is due to MCD in the form of service charge and respond to Chief Secretary of the Delhi government on the issue by Monday, a top municipal official today said.

On Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's direction the chief secretary today convened a meeting of senior DDA and MCD officials to mediate and get the amount that is due to the civic bodies.

"Yes, a meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat today to resolve the issue. Besides me, the other two municipal commissioners and senior officials of DDA including Member Finance were present," North Delhi Municipal Commissioner P K Gupta said.
 

"During the meeting which lasted about two hours, DDA decided to assess the amount and respond to Chief Secretary of the Delhi government on the issue by Monday," he said.

"In a letter to Delhi government DDA has admitted that it has to pay service charges to MCDs and this can be worked out mutually," a senior government official had yesterday said.

The official had added that the issue of how much money will be released immediately will also be decided in the meeting.
