At the Authority meeting held today, Delhi Lt Governor and DDA Chairman Tejendra Khanna suggested that the DDA, in public interest and due to Delhi being in seismic zone, should address the issues of unsafe buildings.
"After deliberations, it was decided that a separate unit should be created within the DDA, for the purpose. It should work out systems for retrofitting or rebuilding of buildings considered not very safe during the earthquakes," a release said.
Modalities of working of this unit and the system of finance should also be worked out, the meeting decided.
The meeting also decided that for 345 slum clusters which are on DDA land, a separate Directorate for In-situ development of slums on DDA land should be created so that the work of In-situ development can be expedited and monitored in a centralised and co-ordinated way.
On the review of Master Plan 2021 Authority, 1,700 suggestions of the total 1,900 have been uploaded on the website of DDA.
The amendments in MPD-2021 recommended by various management groups were also discussed. The suggestions were regarding amendments in the Development Control Norms for night shelters, for residential component in industrial areas, mixed use regulations and redevelopment of clusters of industrial concentration in non-conforming areas.

"All these amendments were approved by the Authority and will now be submitted to the Ministry for further processing and incorporation in Master Plan as per the procedure laid in the Master Plan itself," it said.
Another change of land use proposed in respect of part of land out of the plot measuring 42,713.53 sq m from Recreational to PSP (School & Graveyard) was approved at Mandoli in East Delhi.
