The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) today congratulated BCCI president-in-exile N Srinivasan for becoming the first Chairman of the ICC, and said the appointment augurs well for Indian cricket.

The ICC, in its Annual Conference held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground yesterday, unanimously approved the revamp of its corporate governance structure by amending the Memorandum and Articles of Association.

"On behalf of the DDCA and its President S P Bansal I congratulate Mr. Srinivasan for being unanimously elected as the first Chairman of ICC for the period 2014-2016," DDCA Jt. Secretary Ravi Jain said.

"It is a proud moment for Indian cricket. Mr. Srinivasan's appointment as ICC Chairman will benefit world cricket. He has all the qualification and capabilities to take ICC forward," said Jain, who is also the Vice-Chairman of BCCI's Media and Co-ordination Committee.

Srinivasan was suspended as BCCI president by the Supreme Court after being named in the IPL spot-fixing investigation. In his absence senior Vice-President Shivlal Yadav is looking after the day-to-day cricket administration while legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar was made in charge of the IPL.
