Dead man identified by body tattoo

A 35-year-old man who was found dead here last week, has been recognised through a body tattoo by the Kalwa police today.

The deceased was recognised as Shankar Dadu Choughule, whose body was founf last week on Friday near Kalwa Creek area in a decomposed condition with only a hand properly visible, sub-inspector, Kalwa police station Aniket Pote said.

A case of accidental death was registered and nearby police stations were informed to cross check reports of missing persons with the Kalwa police, he said, adding, Kasarwadavli police today contacted them regarding a complaint of a missing person.

"A missing report was filed at Kasarwadavli police station. Relatives were called here and they recognised the body through a tattoo on the hand, where his (deceased's) name was written in Marathi," he added.
 

Soon after the identification, body was handed over to Shankar's relatives.
