Dead soldier's body brought to Kolkata from Srinagar

The body of Sepoy Adwaita Nandi, killed in terrorist firing on June 24 while serving in Hairderpura, Srinagar, was brought here today.

Sep. Nandi was among other soldiers whose convoy was fired on by terrorists in Srinagar.

The soldier from 35 Rashtriya Rifles hailed from Pathri village in Bankura district.

A wreath was laid as a mark of respect and honour to the soldier by Chief of Staff, HQ Bengal Area, Maj Gen Harsha Kakar, defence sources said.

A large number of Army personnel were present on the solemn occasion.

The body was later sent to his native place where the last rites would take place.
