FIDE Master Diptayan Ghosh of West Bengal, G Akash of Tamil Nadu and Sagar Shah of Maharashtra, who beat Akash in the final round were tied for the second spot with nine and half points.
However, better tie break score helped Ghosh secure the runners-up position while Akash finished third.
The top 30 players from this event have qualified for the coming National Premier Chess Championship, scheduled to be held at West Bengal in October.
