Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide by shooting himself

A debt-ridden 35-year-old farmer has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a rifle in Badaut area of the district, police said today.

Rahul shot himself with his brother's licensed rifle in his house in Dhikana village yesterday and died on the spot, said Anil Kumar, SO Badaut.

According police, the family members of the victim alleged that Rahul was disturbed as he was not getting the payment of sugarcane that he had sold to sugar mills. He had debt of over Rs 12 lakh on him.

The body of the victim had been sent for post-mortem, police said.
